Description

This painting depicts the landscape of Jinzhu Ridge in Lantian, where the Tang dynasty poet Wang Wei once lived in seclusion. The image is simple yet profound, rendered in light ink to portray the tranquil mountains and swirling mists, reflecting the lofty and serene nature of a reclusive poet. Beside the cottage, a bamboo grove sways in the wind, adding vibrancy and natural beauty to the scene. The distant peaks, partially obscured by clouds, fill the painting with endless imagination and poetic feel. The inscription next to the painting is a poem by Wang Wei: "What is there in the mountains? Many white clouds above the ridge. They bring me pleasure alone, unsuitable for giving away." This poem expresses Wang Wei's love for life in the mountains and his transcendence above the mundane. The mood of the poem perfectly integrates with the painting, leading viewers into a world far removed from the noise of everyday life.
